$1.68b remittance inflow in 25 days

Bangladesh has received $1.68 billion in remittance during the first 25 days of January in the 2024-25 fiscal year according to a report released by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.

Of this, remittances through state-owned and specialised banks accounted for $428.65 million while private banks received $1,242.53 million.

Six state-owned commercial banks– Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, Basic and BDBL– received $354.28 million while one state-owned specialized bank–Bangladesh Krishi Bank– received $74.37 million.

Of the state-owned banks, Agrani Bank received $109.01 million, Janata Bank $68.96 million, Rupali Bank $90.04 million, Sonali Bank $86.20 million and Basic Bank received $0.08 million.

The highest $229.01 million in remittance came to the country through Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.
