Members of Customs Preventive Team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recovered 1.50 kg gold from a passenger on Saturday. Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Customs Preventive Team HM Ahsanul Kabir Sagar said Zobayer Akhtar, 50, arrived here by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at around 8:50 am from Kuala Lumpur.
When he was about to leave the green channel officials of customs preventative team challenged him for his suspicious movement at around 9:30 am. In the face of integration he admitted that he had swallowed 15 gold bars, he said. The presence of gold bars in his stomach was detected through X-ray. Later, the 15 gold bars weighing around 1.5 kg were recovered, he added.
