Stock market capital increased around Tk 8,423cr

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the week on 16 to 20 February with a decline in the indices.
During this period, the amount of transactions in the DSE and CSE increased. At the same time, the capital in both the capital markets increased by Tk 8,423.18 crore in the week ending.
This information was revealed by the DSE’s weekly market review on Saturday (February 22).
The main index of the DSE, DSEX, fell by 1.11 points or 0.02 percent to 5,200 points during the week. Among other indices, the DSE-30 Index fell 9.22 points or 0.48 percent to 1,909 points, the DSE Shariah Index rose 7.19 points or 0.62 percent to 1,162 points, and the DSMEX Index (SME Index) fell 0.92 points or 0.09 percent to 1,036 points.
On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at Tk 6,95,191.59 crore. On the last working day of the previous week, the market capitalization of the DSE was Tk 6,89,739.90 crore. That is, the market capitalization increased by Tk 5,451.68 crore during the week.
Shares and units worth Tk 2,351.73 crore were traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange during the outgoing week. Shares and units worth Tk 2,107.23 crore were traded in the previous week. Transactions on the DSE increased by Tk 244.49 crore during the week.
A total of 398 companies’ shares and units were traded on the DSE during the week. Of these, 159 companies increased their prices, 203 decreased their prices and 37 remained unchanged. However, shares and units of 14 companies were not traded.
In the other capital market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the overall index CASPI decreased by 31.87 points or 0.21 percent to 14,497 points during the week. Among other indices, the CSE-30 index decreased by 0.49 percent to 11,905 points, the CSCX index decreased by 0.08 percent to 8,794 points, the CSI index decreased by 0.13 percent to 941 points and the SESMEX (SME Index) decreased by 1.87 percent to 2,103 points.
On the last working day of the week, the market capitalization of the CSE stood at Tk 7,543.632 million. On the last working day of the previous week, the market capital of CSE was Tk 7, 2,464 crore 81 lakh. The market capital increased by Tk 2,971 crore 50 lakh during the week.
Shares and units worth Tk 33.47 crore were traded on the Chittagong Stock Exchange during the past week. Shares and units worth Tk 29.18 crore were traded during the previous week. Transactions on CSE increased by Tk 4.29 crore during the week.
Shares and units of a total of 297 companies participated in trading on CSE during the past week. Of these, the share and unit prices of 119 companies increased, 151 companies decreased and 27 remained unchanged.
